Wow your first strat experience!? Welcome to the addiction!

I have an ibanez with humbuckers that i almost never touch, and i've screwed around on les paul's in the guitar store and i don't get what the fuss is about humbuckers. My favorite guitar is my late 90's left handed mexi strat i got for my 12th birthday, i never strung it up until i turned 16, put a callaham bridge on it at 19. (had to dowel and re-drill to vintage bridge specs; callaham doesnt make a drop in replacement for left guitars with mexi hole spacing) then i put kinman pups in it at 20, at he age of 22 the frets are cutting strings on my original maple neck, and with no pennies around for a refret, i threw on my buddy's rosewood neck from his right handed mexi strat that he left over at my house a few years ago(very jimi hendrix looking) pretty much a virgin neck only 10 years old, dry as hell. Now a few weeks of playing it's getting all greased up and smooth and I'm in tone heaven.

Point im making is, single coils rock. If you want more drive get a blues driver or ts808 (i prefer the BD personally)

In the defense of humbuckers no one stocks left handed gibson's, so all i have played epiphone garbage but i don't think ill be buying another humbucker guitar unless i have lots of extra cash sitting around. or maybe ill get a duesenberg.

I, too, have always liked single coils - though humbuckers can be sweet if the gain is tuned in carefully. If you haven't already, you might try out the Harmonic Design Z-90s. They are single coils, similar to P90s, but have to my ears an expanded tonal range. I have a pair in my old LP and much prefer them to any buckers I've had in that guitar, including some vintage Pat. Pending from 1964. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any Z-90 sound clips on the internet anywhere (at least that I've found), and HD doesn't post sound clips for any of their products (strangely enough).

Well, I had to do it. Too much pressure. I got a RI Danelectro. Nicely aged!! Needs strings but the price was right! Now if I could just figure out what these string things do ...
