Greetings:
I am working through my first Trinity kit build and wanted to double check the output transformer orientation.

On the Feb. 27, 2008 version of the full color TC-15 layout, the output transformer appears to be oriented such that the 4, 8 and 16 ohm output taps are adjacent to the main board and the 8k and 5k taps are under the board.

On the Jan. 03, 2008 version of the TC-15 High Voltage Wiring diagram, the 4, 8 and 16 ohm taps are under the board and the 8k and 5k taps are adjacent to the main board (opposite that of the layout).

On my head kit, there is an unlabeld hole drilled out between the speaker output jacks and the power/fuse. There is also a hole labeled "boost" down towards the preamp sockets.

I received one dpdt switch with my kit. I am thinking that I will use this switch as the crunch/munch switch installed in the unlabeled hole.

In that regard, it seems like the OPT orientation of the High Voltage Wiring diagram makes the most sense as it will be a straight run to bring the 8k and 5k leads to the crunch/munch switch.

Is this what everyone else is doing? Anyone else use the unlabeled hole for another purpose?

Best regards
Tom

Always run with the most recent version. :D Coco might have sent you doc's and have had to update them afterwards, it happens.
and stick with the high voltage orientation layout for the wiring! You can't go wrong. Make sure your using the documentation by the letter also.
Coco's doc's are the best.
Good luck!
Also, if your able, take pics of your progress and send them in. That way we can help guide you through the process further..

Congrats on purchasing the TC, she's a real baby :D :D your going to love her.
Mine's "Sheba".
Yes all, I named her! (might be why I keep referring to the amp as a "she" )

ps:

Sorry, unsure as to what the "hole" your referring to is.
Your kit is more "modern" then mine was.
With mine I added the switch in the "extra" hole.
Don't know how else to describe  :D
Coco will answer, so never despair. Help is always here for you.

I can't stop editing, lol. and welcome to the Trinity club. Once you get 1 well, the forum speaks for itself.

Later
Jac

My "crunch/munch" goes between the mains and the impedence switch.
According to the new layout, the switch goes after the speaker jacks., sorry, this is a Coco answer.

Thanks for the response.

I went ahead and wired the OPT per the HV Wiring diagram, so its good to see that we are on the same page.

I am about complete with the initial build. I still need to wire up a few of the pots and hope to fire it up tonight.

I will get my build pics organized and provide some shots and a report back as soon as possible.

Best regards

Tom

I finished up the wiring and the amp fired right up.

I want to spend some time with the amp to get comfortable with its controls before providing a detailed report. However, in initial tests, the amp sounds really good.

I will post some pics and some comments later.

This is such a great project!
