Ordered my TC15 Sunday Evening from Coco.

This will be my 4th amp build but my first Vox/Matchless style amp.

The excitement is starting to build. :D

Congrats!
This is a fun kit to build, and more fun to play.

Best regards
Tom

Awesome. I'm still in the honeymoon phase of my Trinity 18 Plexi. I'm unloading pedals on eBay to save up for the TC-15 head kit. Gotta be patient! Make sure you show us your progress.

I'll try to remember.

In the past I thought of documenting one of my builds but by the time I remember to pick up the camera the chassis is finished.

I try a do better this time as I want the enjoyment to last. It's just that I get so involved in the building and concentrating on getting it correct that I just forget. I'm sure you guys here can understand that happening.

Can't promise I'll do pics at every stage of progress, but I definately do a "gut" shot at the end. I always try to make everything neat, but I not on the level of a original Hiwatt. The insides of those amps is a thing of beauty to me.

Finished wiring my TC15 last night.

Tonight I hope to go through the start up proceedure.

I like to go over all the wiring one last time to hopefully prevent any surprises.

I also have to get several "gut" shots to post.

Well I followed the start up and everything was going fine. Voltage readings were good. Inserted the GZ34 and check everything was looking good. Then I think I may have made a mistake as I flipped the standby on and several seconds later the 1K5 5 watt resistor accross the can cap started to smoke. I powered off and after it cooled I noticed a crack straight accross the ceramic case from one lead to the other. I went ahead and inserted the remaining tubes and powered up again.

I don't have any sound coming out from the amp. I had a speaker connected from the beginning and the volume controls were turned up. I also inserted a guitar cable into each input and nothing. No static, hum etc. Also, the fuse is OK.

Even if the 1K5 resistor is toast, would this prevent the amp from working?

Any ideas what may be happening? I try and get some pics uplater this evening. I know it kinda hard to trobleshoot without them.

Yes, it would not work as the voltage would not get to the other side of the cap and so not to the rest of the amp.

Wow, never seen that before. You'll need a new one for sure. A 1K5 - 2K 2W would work as a temp measure.

Thanks Stephen. I picked up 1K 5watt resistor this evening and I try again tomorrow. I guess this explains why there no sound output... because there's not voltage input.
