Still trying to get an idea on the sound and volume of this amp, never been a Vox guy so I don't have much of a clue.

I just came from a playing a friends 1 12" DC30 on the low power setting, sounded great for what I'm doing these days. Is this close to what I can expect in tone AND volume from the TC15?

The OT is heavier on the DC30 so way overspec'd for a 15 watt. Might have a bit more low end response and tiny bit of clarity but very close.
Similar caps/resistors and power supply.

I think bgroup has likened the sound to the Matchless vibe.

Yeah, I own an AC30 and I don't think the sound of the TC-15 is much like it at all - more like the Matchless Amps I've encountered, but I think the TC is most similar to the Matchless in the top end... the lows and low-mids of the TC are different IMO. I would say the TC is reminiscent of a Matchless but not really a "clone". And for my money the TC is little more "special"... I own and have recorded MANY amps, and I put the TC-15 right up there in the top 2 or 3 I've had the pleasure of working with...
