Looks like it would make a Spitfire clone as well!

Stephen;

Yeah, it would work well with a Spitfire as well, as the controls are practically the same. the only control difference is the use of a Standby Switch on the Thunderbolts because of the SS Recto. That being said, it wouldn't hurt to have a Standby Switch on the Spitfire and Lightning also. I'm a believer in letting those heaters warm up.

With a proper Faceplate, you could easily get a Lightning in this chassis.

I've tried quite a few speakers and so far, I love the Eminence Red Coat Ramrod the best. This customer is keeping the stock Jensen C10/35 for now though.

Thanks!!!

StrangeGrey;

Sheeeeeeesh!!! My first amp build was a P1eXtreme in a Hammond 13.5x5x2 Chassis. I ordered a Poplar Cab for it but the build was finished
a few weeks before the cab arrived. Sooooooo... I had this Behringer GM110 amp that was still in working order and I kinda sorta pulled the chassis out and...

:lol: My very first Conversion Amp.

Stephen;

The P1 Runs a 6BQ5/EL84. The P1eXtreme runs any Octal tube ya want with the Proper RX Resistor. That's a JJ 6L6GC in there. The P1eX with the standard Hammond 125ESE puts out from 7-15 Watts depending on the tube and how it's biased. Actually, with a 6550 or KT88, it can sqeeze out 20 from what I've been told.

Phil Rowley, JoeD, and I developed what was to become the P1ex Version 2 at AX84 last year. I have Phil's permission to produce it and I do as the Bluesbuster Class A Amps. The lil Marshall that wasn't.

Sounds very good. Nice range too - Clean - Dirty. Fat sound as well. Wonder what it sounds like with an EL34? Ever try that one? might be a nice jangle to it.

BTW, your playing's good as well.

Thanks! Yeah, Sounds great with an EL34 or 6CA7, I just never had a chance to do any recording as my PC DAW died last December. Actually, a JJ 6V6S sounds remarkably like an EL34 in this circuit and does it at 7 Watts. In the High Power Mode of the Standard Bluesbuster and Bluesbuster Supreme (Low/High Power version), the best overall Tube I have found is the SED 6L6GC. It does some very nice cleans and sounds very Marshall-like when pushed. The EI 6CA7 and JJ EL34L are great also. The two best tubes in the Low Power Bluesbuster Jr are the EI 6CA7 at 11 Watts and the JJ 6V6S at 7 Watts.

So what sort of power can a single 6L6 or EL34 deliver in this mode / voltage?

6L6 or EL34 with a 330 Ohm RX is approximately 15 Watts. With a 470 Ohm RX Approximately 10 Watts. At 10 watts, the 6L6 takes on an early Boogie type tone. An EL34 get's hard sounding at 10 watts. However, it's brother, the 6CA7 has good clean headroom and a nice OD tone when biased at 470 Ohms.
