What is the function of the 100k resistor located between the PI tail resistor and the .01 coupling cap?
And why is the volume so much better (normal or closer to what I would expect) when that resistor is lifted?

The amp sounds fine with out it, but I don't want to fry anything, so it's still in place for now.

My soldering iron and I eagerly await your response.

Thx,
Steve

Sorry, I only just saw this question.

In schematics like this one, www.schematicheaven.com/newamps/matchless_lightning.pdf , it's drawn kind of strange. Basically the PI input is being fed via a 220k/100k resistive divider, so that the PI is only getting around 1/3rd of the signal coming out of the tone stack. And the tone stack itself is also heavily attenuating the signal. So it looks like a bit like an overkill..... :hmmm:
