Just wondering if anyone has built the same amp with both types of resistors?

Carbon comps in one and a second with carbon film.

How much less resistor hiss, and what if any differences in tone?

My lightning based build came out very nice, other than the expected resistor noise, I'm very very pleased. It wound not bother me for a live gig but, but I would not be happy about it in a recording studio situation.

I was also really surprised at how loud this thing was once I got the Alnico B&B and the Cannibis Rex into the cabinet today, (thank you UPS lady).
Note to self: Next time I will do the cabinet and speakers first.

Also where do you guys recommend posting photos? I'm kind of proud of my first full build, and I would like to post some photos for your opinions.

Thx,

Steve

I too have resistor hiss but even when close micing it's not a problem. Meaning you can't hear it on the recording. I'm wondering how clean your wiring is maybe you are picking up some extra noise somewhere?

Carbon Comp hiss is always a concern. There are ways to reduce it as outlined in the manual if you want to. I havent heard many complaints and have heard this amp recorded a few times.

Posting pics? Hapy to help. Please read this: viewtopic.php?t=781
