Guys, hi! I have finished my TC-15 build (finally!) but have run into a transformer problem. I planned to use a regular 5AR4 rectifier, but when I power up my 5 volt heater tap is dead (the 6.3 tap is fine). The rest of the trannie tests good. I'm thinking about buying a 5AR4 "copper cap" replacement to eliminate the need for the 5v heater circuit. Do I need to make any changes to the amp to support this? In the long run I will likely replace the transformer, but in the meantime I want to use the amp. Thanks.

John

Never used the Copper cap, but as long as the Hi V goes to the correct pins, I dont see why it wouldn't work. Supposed to be a drop in replacement. I've heard they can run hot, so be careful.

What PT is it you are using?

It's an s2 I've had laying around for a couple of years. I pulled it from another project that did not require the 5V tap, so I had no idea it was bad. And, I bought it from someone else, so I can't in good conscience ask him to replace it. I think he had a major manufacturer make them; they have always been good for me before.
