I have started wiring in my coax in conjunction with my pots. I noticed that the coax grounding (outside conductor) does not get soldered to the sockets. Do I just cut it off to the outside insulation? and put it under the heat shrink?

Why have the outside conductor at all?

Besides this everything is going well. I corrected a few things that i did wrong: 12ax7 wired out of phase, etc...

No voltages to report yet. I am building my cabinet too...

You should ground the shielding at one end, usually at the pot because you have a ground there - the shielding is there to prevent stray rf or other interferences from interfering with the signal.

You don't ground both ends because then you could potentially have a ground loop.

Grounding one end deflects stray noise and signals from entering the high impedance signal.
