Im having problems wth my latest spitfire build, i built this one a little different than the others iv built ( head style) i mounted the transformers like the real spitfires with the ot right next to the preamp tubes, the chassis meant to be hung upside down like the matchless spitfires were, all my voltages are fine, but im getting squelching noise when i turn the tone pot amp seems to be fine with tone all the way down, moving grid wires seem to have little affect could the placement of the ot be causing this? i used Ceri@tone layout iv built many of these amps with no problems im stumped thanks mark

Assume you tried reversing the OT leads going to the tubes?

yes i have i also tried shilded wire from inputs, its wierd with tone all the way down it clear and loud as tone is turned up it gets staticy mark
