I want to build a small amp in a 1-12 combo which is just the EF86 channel of the TC-15. I have a TC-15 and that is the channel i use 99% of the time.

What value OT should i use for this, 5K or 8K? Should i make it Single Ended?

If you take a look at the EF86 Lite on 18watt.com, that will show you how to go about it. You may need to search around in various threads for the drawings, as IIRC it isn't in the main downloads section. Then you can use the component values from the TC-15's PI and power amp. I presume your TC-15 would be running with the OT on 5k ohms, so that's what I would suggest you do here, unless you want your little amp to sound more a bit more like a Marshall 18W. You could also do an SE version, but it really wouldn't sound the same.

Actually, it is in the downloads section. EF86 Lite...4th one down on the list at the moment! Been looking at it myself.

That's really helpful, thanks very much. Yes, 5k is what i want as i don't want the Marshall tone because i have that in spades with my 18 watt TMB, which i thought of adding an EF86 to, but decided i just want an isolated small amp with that EF86 tone, which is awesome to my ears.

Appreciate the help.

By the way, i would be very interested in a SE version.

The SE version is basically a Vox AC4. It should be possible to build one without the tremolo, so it would only need two valves, the EF86 and an EL84. But without the PI and PP power stage, it will lose some of the richness in tone, you get with the TC-15's EF86 channel
