I have been playing guitar for a about 10 years, mostly alternative rock, and i play for a local church youth group. I had always thought tube amps were nothing but the obsession of nostalgic senior citizens who nothing about electrical engineering, boy was I wrong. I always used digital effects, and as I became more picky, I got more and more frustrated with my tone, I finally sat down in from of an ac30, and realized i had been missing a huge component in my guitar setup. I had been limping along with my boss gt-6 until i heard a friend playing through his new valve junior at church, and realized that the sound coming from his sub-$200 amp/guitar was a lot better than much more costly digital set up. So I sold all my digital gear, and multi-effects, and have started building up nice true-bypass capable pedalboard, but I still need to find the perfect amp. I really wanted an ac-30, but it seemed like overkill for the small venues I play in, and it's a little (actually a lot) pricey for my budget.

I just got done totally gutting my parker fly and replacing all the electronics and wiring, and that was a smashing success, i really love that guitar, and i found that (with the help of my engineer father), i really love tinkering with electronics too. So i figured I should look into building my own amp. I looked at the BBQ ac-30 clones, and a few other BBQ kits, but they don't have a ton of documentation, and the kits I wanted were really really complex, the simpler ones, were, well just that, simple. the thought of putting so much work into an amp i don't really like is pretty depressing.

i was reading about matchless amps, and ac-15 clones when i came across some pictures, specs, and clips of the tc-15, and I knew that was going to be the ticket.

the only thing I have left to figure out, is whether it's feasable to add an effects loop, something like the ironsounds unit, to the tc-15. I use a lot of delays and reverbs, and i would like to be able to use the amps own distortion rather than a pedal, i emailed stephen to ask him about the loop, and getting the ordering process started, but i haven't heard back yet :/ hopefully I will soon. I am super pumped about getting started on this amp.

ps. if this is the wrong forum please don't flame me, I wasn't quite sure which forum to post in.

Right forum. We've done the passive loop and it works a charm. I would try that first with our help.
