I have had my Lightning build completed for a long time.
Recently I've revisited some minor issues and found a couple small changes that were helpful on my build.

I tried a 47K resistor (in place of the standard 56k) on the second triode of V2 (the cathode follower) and it cleaned up the slight harshness to the overdrive that has always bugged me..nice!
Check out Merlin's (Preamp book) P 130.
Thanks, Merlin and thanks to all the guys here for all the help.

I also tried another smoothing mod from Tubenit at the Hoffman forum.
The object was to smooth the texture of the overdrive slightly on one of his designs.
I placed a 120pf silver mica cap in parallel with the non inverted 100k resistor at the head of the phase inverter.
80-250pf is the suggested range.
I noticed a slight improvement, (not quite as gritty) but worth the cost of the cap.
It also seemed to shift the mid range ever so slightly closer to where my ear wanted it to be.
Not as dramatic as the cathode follower but still an improvement....

Happy soldering,
Steve

Yes Coco,
Those are the schematic numbers on the TC15 print that I have.

Let me know what differences you hear...
