Stephan, next time I get the urge for a new amp, I'm having you build and cover the cab!!! I don't have that kind of patience anymore!!!

Looks prety darn good to me! Good job. I'd really like to hear clips. I've been looking for an octal pre stage and I'd like to hear it.

Thanks for the pics

:D Thanks Maccabee!

:D Thanks Brian!

5e3 sized cab with modern covering. I'm real happy with the way the octal preamp and PI turned out. Everybody needs at least 1 amp set-up this way!

How are you liking that BlueDog? I have a 15watt alnico at 16 ohms paired up with one of BBQ's 12h30 55hz clones at 16 ohm in ceramic. They work pretty well together. The ceramic is just a little bit more forward sounding. It could very well be my ears , tho.

Nice build, by the way. Let's hear it!

:D Thanks LeeMo!!! I love my 30watt Alnico Blue Dog

Yes I want to get that baby recorded!!!! A buddy of mine just got a Tascam 8 track hard drive recorder, but he has a lot to learn before we can get something down.

Thats a Sweet build Twang ! Im curious about the large resistor that you have off the power switch, what are the details on that?? Is it there to lower you wall voltage ? if so what value is it and what was the voltage drop?
Also it looks like someone got a Tig welder for christmas - Did you build the chassis? nice penatration on those fused corners.

Thanks Joe,

That power resistor is dropping the wall voltage a bit. It's a 10ohm 10watt wire wound. That dropped my heater voltage from 6.5-6.6v range down to 6.2v range. Also it brought my plate voltage on the el84's down about 10 volts to 325.

I had the Komboking build me 2 of those chassis. I'm going to build a 5e3 deluxe next. I built 3 deluxe style cabs, sold 1 and kept 2 for my own builds.

.

I employ this same trick, using the same resistor, a 10-ohm 10-watter. For me it has the same exact result. It brought my B+ down from 380 down to under 360...and dropped my filaments from 6.7v to 6.3
