Recently finished my TC-15, and I'm super happy with the tone and versatility. With one exception, and that's the bass response. The bass is a bit boomy for me when I'm using humbuckers, especially on the neck pickup. I'm playing through an open back 1x12 with a Celestion G12H30, but I've also run it through a greenback with the same results. What can I do to tighten up the bass response of this amp?

I haven't heard that before. Try replacing the power tubes cathode bypass capacitor with one about 1/10 the value. Try a 50 uF. We go from there.

How low can I go with that cap? I have a 25uf handy.

My combo has one of each of those type of speakers in. I have the ability to run each speaker by itself and noticed that I prefered running them both at same time in parallel and bass response was one main reason.

Of course I had to know why the difference so I went researching and found this link which quenched my curiosity. It doesn't really solve anything but the info was helpful to me at least. There is also a link to a BBQ Q&A that explained things a bit too.

Series parallel switching Works on a 212 with two 8 ohm speakers but not very well with two 16s . Damping would be the main factor I think.

Just to follow up, I replaced the bias cap with a 50uF and it tightened up the bass nicely. Also dropped the bright cap on the normal channel down to a 100pF. The combination of the two gave me a little more usable range out of the tone controls.

I also changed the speaker to a Celestion alnico gold, which was a very nice (albeit expensive) step up from the G12H30.
