The other Project I was working on was put on hold while I finished this one up.Another Lightning is born. I still havent turned it on yet, I havent had the time In case something is wrong I want to have time to look at it.
Here are a few pics untill I can post some news of the startup. The circut is pretty close to the layout I used. As you can see the Chassie and cage is where all the time was invested. Not that I cut any corners on the inside. This one is made out of .060 aluminum bent & welded together. I left a 320 grit brush finish on it & sprayed it with clear Ureathane. I have done others that I polished to a mirrior finish but that is really a nightmare, try it some time if you want to drive yourself insane. For the cage I was going to buy some mesh I saw at a hardware store but it just wasnt exactly what I wanted it to look like. I figured out what size it had to be cut a flat sheet layed out all the holes & proceded to center punch and then drill 900 1/8" holes. then I drilled them all out to 5/16" & hit all 900 both sides with a 60 degree counter sink, then I bent it to the shape I needed made the ends with rolled beads & rolled edges on the finger holes & tig welded it together. Maybe 7-8 hours total just in the cage. I made the feet out of 3/4" bar stock on a lathe. . . Let me know what yuo guys think. . . . JOE

Gorgeous. Very 50's space-age cool. Since I didn't take metal shop in school, I'll be stuck w/ Hammond chasis, though.
