Hi
My first post here in this nice forum :D

I just wondered if you forum members has any thoughts about using EZ81 as the rectifier tube in a lightning build?

I have a request to build a lightning and have a pretty good modification object for it with ready sockets and very very nice transformers but sockets are all noval and there is no 5V available for a GZ34. Using this chassis would save a lot of time to build it fast.

Also, my chassis has a reverb transformer and came with a 17" inch spring- tank (drive and return by a single 12DW7) that I could use or at least test. Has anyone tried reverb in this build? Any thoughts?

Best regards / Bo

The original AC15s came with ez81's I believe...so I couldn't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to use one on a lightning (being that there's such a similarity....

coco...what's your thoughts?

An EZ81 is fine for a Lightning build. It will drop slightly more voltage than the 5AR4, but it will be OK. I would go for it.

No issues at all. Go for it. Might get a bit more sag but that could be good.
