Does anyone out there have actual measured data from their Lightning builds on EL84 plate currents and for that matter plate voltages. It seems I can dial the current in but the resistors I need are much higher than the schematic calls for (100 ohms), whereas, what I'm using are 5000k ohm resistors
yielding current of 45ma. Anyone?

5000k= 5M!!?
What PT are you using?
What is voltage on pins 7 (plates) of your '84s...
what is voltage on pins 3 (cathode) of your '84s....
What is voltages at pins 9 (screen grid) of your '84s.....
What is cathode resistor value you have in there...
You refer to '100 ohms' os a schematic....are you refering to screen grid resistors?
So many questions...inquiring minds want to know..........

mr.mushroom cloud without having dis-assemble said lightning unit I can tell you that voltage to pin 9 is 309V, not sure of the other pin voltages and yes I'm referring to screen resistor 100 ohm from schematic. all West Labs
iron. Why is screen resistor so far off from schematic and is 45ma overdriving the `84s?

also the screen resistor value you questioned was incorrect, correct value I used 5k or 5000 ohms, thanks for pointing that out.

need to know screen current to subtract from measured cathode current and need to know voltage at cathode to get actual voltage across plate to cathode...but why are you using 5k screen resistors? If you have only 309 plate voltage, you could get away w/ 470ohm scr res and still keep the screens within safe operating limits
how are you measuring plate dissapation?
