Hi, While waiting for my deluxe kit to arrive (hopefully today!), thought I'd introduce myself since I know this may be my second home for awhile. I'm Charles from San Francisco and I build guitars as a hobby, most recently electric. Unlike accoustic guitars, electrics are only half done upon completion - the amp is clearly a major part of an electric guitar's play-ability :chatter: . Anyway, I was immediately drawn to this particular amp in no small part because of this forum.

In viewing the many beautifully completed amps here I've noticed that most are completed with pvc coated wire - I'm using 22 ga cloth covered wire in my guitar wiring - is there any reason that it cannot be used throughout the deluxe build?

No reason at all!
That's how Fender did it for many years! All the Tweeds and through the Blackface era. Many builders today still use cloth.
Some argue that it can absorb moisture and that can cause issues over time. I haven't seen that and there is thousands of old amps out there with cloth wiring doing fine. It is more prone to falling apart than PVC, teflon etc though with the cloth aging and fraying.

I used it in my Tweed build (manly for the look and changing it up from PVC). I also used it when I built a BF Deluxe Reverb (the Tweed Deluxe's big brother).
I do like PVC for HV stuff though.

Welcome to the forum!! Cloth looks vintage/nice , I have to say that, but cant see any reason to use it (or I would)

I'll certainly not use it in heater wiring, but I'm a little worried about using it anywhere now as the instructions seem to suggest using 20 ga. I much prefer working with cloth covered wire (and it looks cool!), but I'd like to keep the noise down too.

Most cloth wire is 20 AWG or 22 AWG. Either is fine for signal and power wiring.

The green wire you see me using for the heaters is 18 AWG. It's more than up to the task.

Cloth wire is not nosier than PVC. Just the covering differs.

Check out Hoffman Amps for some nice cloth wire.

Use it wherever you want. We have used 22 ga for all connections at one point in time.
