About a month after receiving the kit (working on it between work and travel) I started up my Trinity 5E3 clone two nights ago. The instructions were terrific as were the parts. Particular thanks to the posts of mitch m and clayman11, whose pictures made things really easy. Double and triple checking revealed two simple wiring mistakes, which were easily corrected. After going through the voltage checks and turning up the volume controls without a guitar plugged in, I was worried because it was so quiet. No hum. No buzz. Really silent. It wasn't quiet after I plugged in my guitar. This thing is an absolute blast and it sounds fantastic. Now I have to build a cabinet. I'll post a few of the build photos.

That's a pretty nice looking build you did there. What were the mistakes and could the documentation have helped?

Thanks, Stephen. The first mistake was really simple. I wired the heaters up to the wrong posts on the V1 and V2 sockets. I should have used better lighting when I looked at the numbers on the sockets. After soldering, I re-checked and found it. It was really easy. Later in the build I wired one of the wiring board connections onto the wrong terminal on V3. I found it on the re-check. I don't think you could have improved the instructions. They were newbie mistakes. I will credit your kit for two things that made it very easy. One is the 11 x 17 layout (in color) and schematic. Really easy to use. I used both in my re-checks.The other is stressing short connections and twisted leads where needed. I'm certain that has made this amp so quiet. I haven't wired in the VRM yet. I didn't want to add variables on the first build. It goes in next. This thing was a blast to build!

PS. One thing I might have done, is to mark the sockets with a fine point marker to highlight one or two of the numbers to make it easier to see which is which.

I finally got enough time to work on the cabinet. The speaker is an eminence screamin eagle. I don't have a dove tail jig, so I pinned the sides together with dowels. A few more pictures to follow.

This is where it lives. This was one of the most rewarding projects ever. A great kit and an amp that is so much fun to play. I made the three guitars too.

Looks great Steve! The two tone was a good choice.

That's a nice family of guitars too - P90s, single coil, and buckers! Looks like you've got all the bases covered.
