Did a session last week and we used my Triwatt for bass for the first time. Those that know me know I use my Hiwatt DR103 quite often for bass when I'm not using my Ampeg B15N. Anyway, for this session we had my P Bass/MM Stingray, and an inexpensive Spector 5 string... bass into Radial J48 DI to hard disk, and then thru the DI into the tuner, a boost pedal (not always on), a Sans Amp (not always on) and then Triwatt to an Ampeq 1x15 cab. Fantastic. Every bass. Everything was there in the tone that I get from my other bass favourites, but as expected didn't need to be as loud, and it was easier to blow it up a bit... I will use Triwatt for bass quite often I suspect. It was particularly amazing for a fuzz tone with the Sans Amp in...

I also used it for Wurlitzer piano. In the past my goto for the old timer electric pianos was always my TC15, but I'm thinking the Triwatt is better. Tone just sat in the track a little easier. And BTW, the Tramp is no slouch for Wurly piano either...

My "bass" amp stays in the iso closet these days... I've been really happy how the Triwatt handles bass and keys too. Pretty impressive little sound machine.

I can't say as I'm surprised Brent. Are you running 6V6's or KT-66's in your Triwatt?

I'm thinking the Tramp would be a nice practice amp for bass. Maybe for recording too.

I've also had good success with the Triwatt as a practice bass amp. I was using KT66s, for more headroom.

Triwatt is helping to control bass. Triwatt are also available as kits, it is design form inspired by the early "4 Hole" Hiwatt DR103/Custom Hiwatt 100,. and its input is based on the "3 Hole" on that different different version such as independent bright and normal channel inputs. its Transformers based on original Hiwatt Partridge transformers.it has small size, and light weight. we can use single coils and humbuckers . the sound quality is so good. you can I play mostly classic and progressive rock/blues.

It will do more than that, since it also has an extra switchable preamp stage, based on the vintage Biacrown-era Hiwatt Lead 100's "Overdrive" stage. With the Overdrive engaged, the amp delivers a crushing distortion, perfect for metal. The Triwatt is a very versatile amplifier, and I can't think of any musical style it can't do.

I tried my Triwatt out yesterday, with my Jazz Bass. It sounds better than my 1x10" Carvin 100 Watt Combo Bass Amp. If only there was a 100 Watt version of a Triwatt.

Yes, there is. It's called a Hiwatt DR103. You can buy originals, which aren't too hard to find. Kits are also available from a couple of vendors. The Triwatt itself could be modded up to 50W specs by swapping the transformers for Heyboers 50W partridge set and the power tubes for EL34s, plus a little fiddling with the bias voltages. It would probably give around 60W in reality, with the EL34s running at Hiwatt voltages.
