Hey all, built a triwatt awhile back and honestly have not played it much. Getting to it now and using an sg with low wind humbuckers (8-9k) I'm trying to understand if I built this wrong or I have headroom expectations off. I have ajj 12at7 in the PI and tungsol 12ax7 in v1 and v2 with a jj 12ax7 in v3 amd jj 6v6s. I'm running bright volume around 1 o clock and normal around 9 o clock in the linked input. I get clean single notes but throwing in even a slight double stop starts to distort. I wouldnt say it's compressed as there is still dynamic range but there is definitely some hair on the sound. Is this normal? I hear lots about headroom on these amps but I'm not sure I'm experiencing it with buckets

You seem to be putting a lot of effort into your triwatt! You appear to be nearing the sweet spot based on your setup, but it's vital to remember that changing guitar pickups and even your playing style can have a significant impact on amp behavior. Rather than a mismatch in your build, the distortion you're experiencing may be more related to how the amp responds to your settings and the low wind humbuckers on your SG. Have you experimented with the gain levels or adjusted the EQ? Small adjustments can occasionally result in significant variations in headroom and clarity. Continue adjusting and exploring; each small change helps you understand the character of your amplifier better! Have fun while playing!
