Do you think a reverb pedal would be a smart addition when using this amp? And if yes....any suggestions as to which one.

Thanks

I use the original EH Holy Grail. Works well. Useful? depends on your taste & what you play. A little on clean is OK.

It all depends on the pedal. I have used delays and chorus effects (never reverb) and found that they always seem to work better in an effects loop. Distortions and overdrives work better in front of the amp. All that being said, I'm using all of my pedals with the tramp (which has no loop) and they work to an acceptable level.

I don't use FX loops with any of my amp builds, and they all work perfectly fine. I think the whole FX loop thing has been somewhat overhyped. Hendrix never needed any FX loops and look at all the pedals he used!

Same for me. My amps don't have effects loops so all pedals wind up in front of the amp.

Tried the Tramp with a Boss CE-2 Chorus pedal yesterday and it sounded real good.

I have not tried the Tramp with a reverb unit. Usually I am an addicted-to-reverb type, but with the Tramp it's different. I can play it without missing the reverb effect as the natural sound of the Tramp is so good.

By comparison, I have a Blues Jr and when I play it, the reverb is almost always on. The sound seems flat and lifeless without it.

My reverb pedal is an old Zoom. I think it's called the 1010. There are other effects in it but I don't use them much. I'll probably plug it in front of the Tramp someday just to see how it sounds.

I picked up one of the Boss Fender '63 Reverb pedals used and I really like it with the Tramp and the 5E3 clone I have. I don't use a lot of reverb effect so it's barely noticeable, just on for a bit of depth. I like it.
