Just wondering if you experienced builders have any advice for putting the Tramp together?

Unpack the kit and ensure all parts are included by checking off on the BOM

Separate resistors by type and by value. Stick them in a piece of foam and write the values beside them.

Same for caps and diodes

read the manual

read the manual

read the manual

identify each component on the layout

use a marker and draw where your jumpers are going ( I do top and bottom, I put my jumpers underneath but top or bottom is ok) Install jumper and hold in place by bending over the end of the jumper.

Continue as the manual instructs.

Check off your work as you go.

Double check everything.

When powering up you have to understand there are lethal voltages in there. Use a insulated probe for moving energized leads.

Follow the manual :!: :!: :!:

Good idea on the foam. You might measure the resistance to confirm they are in range.

Really good idea to read the manual too! and look at the forum for build pics.

Very good advice in this thread.

For me, whether I'm building an amp (only one so far) or a pedal (about a dozen), I measure each and every resistor. One, I don't trust my ability to confidently read the resistor code stripes. Two, I want to know if one is way out of range. Three, I'm paranoid and would rather take longer than have to fix errors. Doing it once is way easier than undoing it and doing it again.

True dat! I have attempted a pedal build more than once, but could not get the voltage settings for the transistors right... :( I think part of it is that the voltages must be cascading...but it also could be a funky part, and just haven't had the time or space to keep debugging it.

For this, I'm going to take my time... 8)
