I'm a little late to this party. I have looked thru most of the posts concerning the Tramp. Has anyone tried a KT88 or 6550 power tube? What were the results? Is there any reason why this would not be a good idea? I have a number of KT88s and like how they perform with a "wreck" style preamp and was wondering how the Tramp might perform. Thanks

I haven't tried it but I do have some as well. You'd just need to change the cathode bias resistor to suit - assuming the PT can handle the current.

Sure looks like it can, haven't done the math, but am intending the head version of the Tramp to be a KT88 version.

Haven't got a round to it yet. My list of "To Build Amps" is so long that I will have to live to 103 to get to them all!
