Hi,

Just a question regarding the impedance selection when using an extension cab. Right now I have an 8 ohm speaker in the combo, but I recently picked up a 2x12 ext cab (also 8 ohm). When both are plugged in I was assuming the speaker configuration would then be in parallel: 'product over sum rule' would suggest that I'd switch to the 4ohm output selection.

But the more I think about it, the less confident I am in my theory!

Am I correct? Or would using both the combo and ext cab put them in series? (therefore 16 ohm?)

I thought it would be best to ask before I potentially did some damage!

Thanks!
James

Hey James...
you're right...you would be running two 8 ohm loads in parallel, so the total load would be 4 ohms.
