Saw some 12BZ7 tubes for sale and they advertise that they have the same pins and gain as a 12AX7 but with more heater current producing more bass. Sounds interesting but.....................
Will this tube work safely in the Tramp???

Don't know that particular tube

But more heater current does not mean more bass, fact.

There is some kinda 12AX7 type tube that had a smaller internal plate resistance (rp) that will give you more gain as it provides a lower impedance output. I wanna say its a 12AZ7...

But is there any danger in giving it a try?

Add the heater current of the preamp tube and the power tube of your choice and see if it is the same or less than that of the power transformers heater tap.

Checked a tube database and found that the 12BZ7 has a heater current of 0.6 / 0.3 A. I'm currently using a vintage Sylvania 6L6 so I don't know the specs. I could switch for other power tubes (ie: JJ 6V6) if you think that may be safer.

I haven't checked anything about this tube, but I think the PT can handle the current. After you run it, see if the PT overheats at all, and maybe check the voltages as well. be si the pin out is the same by the way! I leave that up to you. look forward to your feedback on it.
