Adding a '102' [1000pf] capacitor across the second stage plate resistor [220k] 'helped' my treble control. A lucky pf guess guided by availability, probably because I liked this mod elsewhere and long ago ordered extra C's for just such a day.
This test may be slanted toward brightness by a bright speaker and SC pickups which were probably contributing to the treble control very often seen zeroed, we were wishing zero was <zero.
After the quick mod, the Treble knob still controls bright and sparkly between the '4' and '6' settings, 10 is now nearly brittle, happy with no need for a mod-switch.
YMWV.
