This should be simple enough to do shouldn't it? I've got an old traynor.. I don't play it much but it is in excellent shape. Wondering if i could pull off an 18 watter out of it but using the plexi style layout? Anybody done something similar?

The YBA2 only has 2 preamp tubes...am I right? If that's the case you'd be one triode short even with one channel. Is there room for another 9 pin socket?

I bought my YBA2 BassMate for the express purpose of making an 18 watt. I played it and decided to keep it stock. I bought a ElV6 from Coco instead.
One thing that kept me from doing the conversion was the 400+ volts on the power supply. That's way too much for an 18 watt. The next thing is the sand rectifier. No dropping any volts there.
Only three knobs on the chassis. It's a pretty cool design , really. The Volume is more like a "Master" with the "Vol" always on ten. The cabinet is a one fifteen (sealed). It makes for a clean sister to a dirtier 18 watt. Plus I can play bass thru it.

Yeah I just realised that as well... it only has two preamp sockets. I could in theory drill another one but i am thinking now maybe leave it stock as Leemo makes a good point about the voltages.

The supply voltage is a bit hi. Trannies look like 310-0-310 plus the solid state recto. IF the B+ was in the 350 range, you might make a 18 watt lite from it, but I hear the YBA2 is a great little amp so maybe play it & build another.
Does your have EL84s in it?
