What we use here when we can't clean off the flux is Kester #245 63/37 "No-Clean" solder, a diameter of .031" for our purpose is fine. We're using the 66/3.3% core/flux ratio. If you don't want to clean or can't remove the flux after soldering (moisture sensitive parts like certain swicthes, trimpots, etc.), this stuff is great. If you do intend on removing the flux... DO NOT USE NO-CLEAN SOLDER!!! Long story but basically, don't let managers spec your solder for you

For a "Yes-Clean" RMA solder we're using the Kester #285, same diameter, core and flux ratio. I'm showing one pound of either of these for around $11 bucks in my Stanley Supply catalog, catalog #412-885 for the Kester 245, and #183-988 for the 285. www.stanleysupplyservices.com

If you use additional flux for rework, be sure to get the flux that matches the solder you are using. The same place has both rosin flux and No-Clean flux pens for not a lot of money, or in gallons for higher volume production. Hey Jac, don't forget to open a window while soldering!

I like Sn62. Last roll I bought was Kester, 'cause I can't find Ersin Multicore anywhere anymore. But Ersin used to be the crap.

I'll always buy lead-bearing as long as I can get it, you'll have to drag me kicking and screaming to RoHS compliance.
