Am I the only one seeing that annoying advertisement at the top left of the forums?

I think so. Nothing on mine & I have no advertising pop-up either! I hate them too!

Yep. It's not on the laptop. I wish that the coders that put this cripe out would grow up. What did I do to them? They deserve every wedgie that they ever received in junior high.

Just found this. Does it sound like this? Check out the demo and let us know. If this is it, then we'll have to let coco know.

It's gone now. :D
It was an ad saying that my computer was infected and click here to scan for free. It was in place of the Trinity logo. My pointer had the hourglass next to it the entire time that I was on the forum.
Maybe my AVG or Spybot Search and Destroy killed it.

That's a relief. There is some pretty bad stuff going around.

It's back :?
Of the sites that I frequent, it's only on this one. I'm using Firefox. At the bottom of the page it says that it's transferring data from 85.12.43.83...
My guess is , that's the scumsuckers address. Call the lawdogs!.

Can you email me a picture of what you see?

Hit <Alt><PrtScn> to create a screenshot when Firefox is on the Trinity site and paste it into MSPaint, which I always access by clicking, <Start> | <Run> then typing "pbrush" in the text box.

Then save it and email it to me. I can have a look. I want to see if it is like the one I posted earlier.

It's funny, I use Firefox and am on the Trinity site almost daily and I don't see anything weird.

That IP address belongs to Xentronix in the Netherlands. Based on some other info I found Googling that IP, people with similar problems had some sort of Javascript injection hack on their computers.

I disabled Javascript and now it's gone. My guess is that this twerp has figured a way to get payed for running sites thru his own. Why else would he be doing ads like this? I might just hop a flight over and personally look him up , so I can kick his scrawny butt.

Leemo,

Hello, long time.

I'm sorry to say you've got a major virus.
Your going to need software and/or a complete reboot.

Sorry man, but my son got the same thing. I fixed it with pc doctors, which I own.

Good luck
later

<-- IT guy

if you are getting popups on a site that doesn't normally have popups (like google.com or trinityamps.com), chances are that you have some sort of spyware installed.

There is a free personal version of ad-aware that you can run http://www.lavasoft.de and there is also a free version of super-anti spyware that you can run http://www.superantispyware.com/ (this one isn't as widely known and regardless of how retarded the name is, this software is awesome).

we use both of these at work. super anti spyware finds stuff that adaware doesn't. both are pretty good.

if you have any toolbars installed, they might be the culprit. a lot of software comes with Internet Exploder toolbars now. MyWebSearch and SmileyCentral are ones we see pretty commonly here.

oi, i just saw that you posted the ip.

that ip resolves to somewhere in the netherlands. definitely spyware. calling the "lawdogs" will do nothing since it is not in your country (unless you are in the netherlands).

Just run ad-aware or super-anti spyware and it should fix your problems.
