I was lying in bed last night and an idea poped into my head.

First off, I would like to state that I don't have the tech nowhow to do this for the forum, so someone would have to step up and do it if Coco and the other members tought it would be helpful.

Even though I have just recently joined the forum, I want back and read post all the way back to several years ago. I do this so as to try and not asked questions that have been asked before. To my knowledge this is something new.

Anyway there's my idea...

Show a layout diagram of an amp and have the parts color coded or highlighted in some fasion for what function they perform in the amp's circuit.

For example have the filter caps in blue, the bypass caps in yellow, the cathode resistore in red etc. This way when were dicussing something about a paticular amp, we would all be better understanding what was being referrenced. It would also help members understand how the amp circuit works. Include a key with the layout diagram indicating which color was for what part. This would be most helpful to me and I would think be the same for others beginners here also.

It could be posted in the reference section with all the other helpful info.

What do you guys think? Yea or nay.

hell yeah, would be very usefull for guys like me who dont always understand all the terms used in amps (im french...have to do my best to translate everything...that means guessing sometimes...wich is not so good with hi volts circuits)
beside, it would help a lot to divide the amp in building blocs and isolate the parts we need to tweak ;-)

This would be a good place to start in the Resource section...

I've haven't had any tube theory since high school in the early to mid 70's, so I still find myself referring to the RCA Receiving Tube Manual from time to time. This is especially true since just starting a V6 build. Enjoy the learning :D

You make a good point. Always wanted to do this - never got the time to do it.

This is the one from Aron, reprinted with permission in my manual: Tubes 101
