Hey guys,I have an OLD fimlosound amp that is gutted. It was a 6V6 6SL7 model from the late 40's.All the wiring was decaying badly, so out it came. I would like to rebuild it as a 5F2a or something,I thought it might make a cool octal deluxe but there isn't a lot of room in there! Anyways my question is that the power trans has 3 wires on the primary, 1black, 2 black/red ,3 black/yellow.Whats up with that? which ones do I use to even test it out?I also wondered if the OT could be used as a single ended transformer, or does it have to be used in a PP configuration?Any opinions on a circuit I could implement using the octal preamp would be cool to have as well. Thanks in advance!

No takers? C'mon experts! I know you're out there! :) . I really need to know the colour codes for this transformer before I can move ahead.

I'm no expert but that sounds pretty obscure. Have you tried google? There might be some forums or something about these amps.

Could it be a 110/220 config.? I'm thinking the black would be common and the other 2 the 110 and 220. If you ohm metered it I'd think one winding would be roughly double the resistance of the other. try a little experimenting

I dont know the specific colour codes. I guess the tell-tale wires are gone from the chassis.
If it was powering the heaters, B+ and 110 you'd need a min of 7 wires. 2 primary, 5 secondary (no heater ground). I count only six. Something's a little odd here.

OK! here's a copy of the schematic I found for this amp thing.Good old internet! You can see at the bottom ,there's a black wire on the switch /fuse side and then there are the other 2 . The black /yellow wire(91.4 v) seems to be attached to the death cap(now removed for all time) and the black red is 117v. What should I do with the blk /yellow wire?

Kinda cool, you can tie it off and forget about it. Connect Line to the 117V. It's like you have two options, high voltage / low voltage.
