I'm floored. I have never built a Champ before. What an amazing tone from an incredible circuit! Never content to leave well-enough alone, I proceeded to hot rod the Champ. I'm even more floored. I think I may have wet myself. I must be going now. I have an amp to play...

I started out with the 5F1, but quickly noticed some areas of untapped gain goodness and started modding. I added bypass caps to both cathodes on the 12AX7, changed the plate resistor to 150K on the 1st triode, upped the bypass cap on the 6V6 to 100uF, removed the -FB, and added a 5E3 style tone control. It's a little fire breather now!

This thing is awesome and has temporarily caused me to forget about my other amps!

I wonder what a Lightning would sound like running in SE?!
