Question for the Gurus & near-Gurus.....As I've been playing around with my own franken-amps I've been referring back to the TMB and TC-15 schematics & layouts. One thing I've noticed is that in both cases the phase splitter tail and the pwr tube grid reference resistors connect to the pre-amp ground. I realize that these are proven designs & don't need any "fixing"..... like Bootsy says: "If it ain't broke, don't break it". But from a purely theoretical hair-splitting standpoint, would it be better if they were connected to the PA ground?
As an example, disconnect at the red "x" & connect via the blue line:
