Sad to see 18 watt close down. It was an inspiration to many, myself included. Although I was not over as much in the last two years, I'll miss the joint.

This forum is a friendly, low key place and we hope to keep it that way. It was intended to help out builders and players of Trinity Amps, and get feedback on products - new and old. It serves that purpose and more.

So, please feel free to discuss any amp design. If it fits into the categories, great. If not, use the Dressing Room and if a subject takes off, maybe we'll create a new forum for it. (dare I mention the VJ?).

Please invite other 18watt.com displaced members and lost souls who you think will Share Tube Amp Knowledge and Ideas in a friendly, low key way.

Yer All Welcome Here!

Hi Jac, nice to be here. :)
I'm getting parts together for a JTM45 and a 12AU7 Lite II at the moment. I need an amp with a bit more headroom for gigging, and I need a practise amp.
Like I need an excuse!

What about you?

In the process of building the EF-86 Lite II 18 watt in a hammond chassis. I have a thread here I started. :D :D Havin' fun
I'm also about to finish my Trinity sIII and I bought Stephen's new TC-15. So that will be next (well, when production start's, still waiting on the faceplates) Check out the TC under the Lightening forum. The clips are awesome. :D

So lots of building :D

Its full name is the "18W lite IIb with 12AU7 output valve". And its that exactly. I don't think there another name?
Maybe 1.8watt would be a better name?

Yeah, let me have your email, I can send you the schem we used, which worked very well. Also a pic of the innards. Joe, my mate, did a beautiful ptp job with it.

Its basically a 18w lite, with the appropriate mods to use the 12au7 instead of the EL84s.

One point to note is that you can use the component values on the schem for the PI, or the slightly different ones on the 18wLite schem. Both work, but DennisF who's done both reported that the 18w values sound better. Ours used the different values, and it sounded fine to me anyway.

Hey, just got my account activated. I'd heard people were coming here from 18watt.com so i came over to check things out. I was more lurker than poster but i started to become more active just before it closed down. I have the Tiny Terror layout i was working on if anyone wants it?

Its not a Marshall but it has 2 EL84s and produces roughly 18 watts of power before distortion...can i post in the 18 watt forum?

Feel free to post it in the Dressing Room. We try to keep the 18 watt pretty well Marshall derived 18 watt. I'l love to see the schematic.

Thanks for the warm welcome Coco, and nice to see fellow 18watters on board too.

Now, once we find the kettle and tea bags it'll be just like home :D

The 1.8W Lite II using 12AU7s can be found on DennisF's web page, along with a sound sample - http://members.cox.net/dennisfweb/ He's got quite a few interesting projects there.

People who like octal tubes, can use a 6SN7 instead of the 12AU7/ECC81

Hey guys! First post here.... I used to look around 18watt once in a while. Unfortunately most of the questions I asked were about my broken down Fenders tho  My first build was an 18 watt TMB, and I plan on building a 5E3 tweed Deluxe for my next build. :D

Good to be here... see ya 'round!
