Stumbled across some NOS caps..... there are some Canadian made "Arrow" caps (1st pic) that seem to have a ceramic shell on them.... the 2nd pic are Phillips caps.

What kind of caps are each of these? What would they be like as far as tone? Thinking of using one of these types in my next build possibly and was wondering if anyone knew anything about them.

Thanks guys!
Phil

My guess is Polyester Film for the Arrow. The Philips (MKC) is metallized Polycarbonate type and are reputed to have a very balanced, musical sound with very little colouration.

I'd use them.

Those yellow caps are "lego" caps i think. Marshall started using them then stopped after a year or so in the early 70's i think. Cork sniffers might give you a fair bit for them if you need the money to fund more building. Or just wach them in an amp. I bet they sound great!

Sounds like I should make sure to keep an eye open for more of those Phillips caps.

Well sounds like those are the caps that will be making their way into the 5E3 Deluxe I will be building soon! :D Thanks guys.
