Here is a picture of the most recent prototype. This was played and tested for several hours by a local player .

We redid the board correctly this time with control wiring to the proper side of the board. Also tried untwisted heater wires above the board as you can see.
We're Getting new set of transformers made by Heyboer for a final prototype and we're going to shrink the chassis down to 1/2 size and drop the cage so this should become a very fun and affordable amp. Final Price TBD but we're doing our best!

We experimented with several guitars tone controls and found they did a decent job so No more tone control.

What the player noted during his two hours of testing, was that the TriFly was not a one-trick pony with only a buzz saw sound at less than half volume, it had very good cleans. After half, it started to break up in a very useable way. We swapped some tubes in/out and are sticking with 12AX7/12BH7 pair.

The overriding comment he had was that this was not a toy amp. It was a real amp. Not like his Marshall Class 5 for example. Way more useable. I had to agree, for a small amp, it sounded very big!

Since then, we redid the layout in a more compact way. The tubes now go from Front to rear. The pilot light will be embedded in the front tube to illuminate it with a coloured glow. One input, one power switch, one large Volume knob on Front. Two output jacks (4, 8 ohm).,One IEC power connector with integrated fuse to save space on rear.

Chassis size approx 7.5" X 4.5" X 1.3"

Sounds very promising, what a cool project! I love the look of pilot lights in a tube, looks really cool in a dark room especially :)

The Trip Top has been consuming the lion share of time, but this is coming together.

Looks very interesting.

Wondering about potential cabs for it, head or combo.

Plan for TriFly kit is in a approx 5x7 pedal enclosure. You could take the design and put it into any cabinet. We did have a head design for it with stainless cGe, but it was getting to be a little over the top for a 1-1/2 watt amp!
