Hi all, just finished my Tri-fly pcb build, and was wondering if there are any issues with using the 16 ohm tap off of the OT. I have several low wattage speaker cabs that I typically like to use with low wattage amps, and of course they are all have 16 ohm speakers. I would just substitute the 16 ohm tap for the 4 ohm tap, which I don't plan on using. From what I understand about amps I'm assuming I could just use the 8 ohm tap with a 16 ohm load, which would draw less current from the OT anyways, but why not use the correct tap, as it is readily available? Any advice or recommendations would be great!
Thanks,
-Chris

Hi Dart,

I can't find a schematic or a wiring diagram of the trifly, but according to the picture in http://www.trinityamps.com/phpbb/download/file.php?id=1824&mode=view, just wire the 16 ohms tap (the orange wire?) instead of the 4 ohms and you will be fine. As you said, you can also use a 16 ohms speaker in the 8 ohms output (but never the reverse: a 4 ohms speaker in the 8 ohms output), but if the 16 ohms tap exist...
