What is the current capacity of the 5v rectifier heater on the TripTop power transformer? Specifically, can I run a 5U4 or GZ37 rectifier tube which require 3 amps?

It’s been over three years and it’s still running perfectly. No bad habits or aberrant behavior. It’s a great recording amp. I’m using EL37 Mullards and a JBL D130F speaker.

To determine if the TripTop power transformer can support these tubes, you need to confirm that its 5V heater winding can supply at least 3 amps of current. This information is typically found in the transformer's specifications provided by the manufacturer.

The TripTop power transformer’s 5V rectifier heater has a current capacity that generally ranges from 2 to 3 amps, which is adequate for many rectifier tubes. For a rectifier like the 5U4, which requires 3 amps, you need to confirm that the transformer's 5V winding can handle this higher current draw.

Given that your amp has been performing well over the past three years, it seems Papa's Pizzeria likely that the transformer is adequately matched to your needs.
