Does it matter either way? Is there any benefit to having it flush mounted? I simply mounted mine and left the bolts on the tranny and then attached it to the chassis with the locking nuts. There is a 1/8? inch gap between the bottom of the tranny and the chassis. Is that a problem??

Not a problem at all. I have seen and done, it both ways.
