Hi,

I want to make a dual footswitch to toggle my tubes and the boost in my amp.
I just bought two DPDT relay kit's on the internet to make this work.
My concern is that when I toggle the hand switch the amp does a pop, that I would like to control, in order to have (at least) the boost switch working in the middle of playing a music.
So if you could suggest any alteration to make this work, it would be great.

The relay kit is this one, please remove this link if it is inappropriate

Thanks,
João

See viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3312 for some ideas/suggestions for to prevent the boost from popping.

Switching the tubes should not cause a pop.

I haven't tried the AMZ relay boards but Jack the maker/designer is a well respected electronics pedal guy.

Thank you for your quick reply Kurtlives.

I guess I am fairly new at this so I ask you to help me out. (i removed the layout, it was too big)

has I am going to use the relay dpdt I got, can you point out or describe in the layout were I should place the resistor, and how to connect it with the present switch.

I can then transcribe this to my pcb relay board has it has the same 6 connections...
I do know electronics, I build LEGO :D

João

Has I was trying to find how to make this work, I stumbled on a thread about soft foot switch on resources.

Stephen, shows how to make the tubes and boost operate with a footswitch. I am thinking about doing it his way, has he already schooled me on how to build the amp.

I have a couple of questions about his build, maybe someone can clarify me about this.

- the power comes from the white cable in the layout that goes to pin 5 of the rectifier tube, I should divide it before it goes there?

- can R42 de a 27R 1W resistor?

- can I use a relay like «Finder 30.22S 5V» it has 5vdc; 2A; 125R coil resistance and 40mA like the sun hold

- the boost board already has the 22uf cap and the 2k7 resistor, so I should remove from my board these two and the dpdt toggle switch right? ( I already have a boost on my turret board)

Hope you can help me with this,
João

Soft Boost Posting here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1093

The soft boost does stop the popping because it turn on and off slower than a relay.

- the power comes from the white cable in the layout that goes to pin 5 of the rectifier tube, I should divide it before it goes there? (poer for this comes from the 6.3V tap, so connect to pin 5 and to pin 4. I have used the other 6.3 tap.

- can R42 de a 27R 1W resistor? - yes

- can I use a relay like «Finder 30.22S 5V» it has 5vdc; 2A; 125R coil resistance and 40mA like the sun hold - yes

- the boost board already has the 22uf cap and the 2k7 resistor, so I should remove from my board these two and the dpdt toggle switch right? ( I already have a boost on my turret board)
- no, not necessary, just tie them to the board in the correct places.

I built a sIII v6 a year ago and I would love to do this to my amp too, the problem is I am not good at interpreting schematics. I built my amp entirely from the layout print that came with it. So my question is would somebody be willing to transpose the schematic to a layout. Thanks for any help

Tim

also what is a good effects loop to install in the amp?

Hi all,

Coco, can I see the layout for the footswitch as well? I already bought all parts needed and planning on doing it next week.
Also bought the parts to upgrade the amp to your second version of v6.

Many thanks,
João

Thanks Stephen for the layout. Can the switch be used for switching the tubes also in a v6.

No, that's just for boost. You need a second circuit, and a relay to do the tube switch. We did it with a stereo jack and a dual foot switch.

So is it the same type of circuit connected somewhere else?
