:) Hello, Does anybody have some simple layout plans and measurement for a 1x12" combo amp cabinet build in which a 18 sIII head chassis mount on top of speaker cab and controls front face and tubes face up like a Suhr Badger 18 watt amp in a closed back with ported type cabinet. Thank you.

:) Hi friends, Could anybody please post your schematics or pics of a Combo amp cabinet build with head chassis and tube mounted upwards. I think this cabinet design greatly benefit tubes long life, chassis and components heat rising issues and protect from speaker and tubes vibration interference which cause early tube rattles and microphonic issues etc. overall a cool look combo. thanks Vinu

I had someone else build my cab. I can take some measurements if you'd like.

It's too bad you couldn't get an upside down front panel and mount it with the controls on top. Would make for a much shorter overall combo if the tubes and transformers poked down towards the speaker instead of requiring their own box.

The chassis compartment is very tall, it could easily be made shorter, but there is an overall balance and proportionality in doing it this size. In addition, you could quite easily use a 15" speaker instead of a 12" with this as well.

I'd be really concerned with an upside down mount due to heat build up. Those tubes heat up quite a lot; I'd suspect you'd have a lot of problems with it.

Loads and loads of combo amps with the controls on top have the tubes facing down. Pretty much all BF and SF Fenders, Boogies, etc.
