I'm nearly done with my Plexi MK II build, but I have a question about routing the shielded leads from the input jacks to the terminal strips at V1.

In looking at a few build photos on this site, I see that some run the leads from the TMB jacks straight across the turret board (TB) to the terminal strip... some are above the TB and others are underneath.

My only other experience with building a high-gain kit was a JTM-45 type amp, and the shielded leads from the input jacks on THAT amp needed to be run against the chassis wall all the way to V1 or else the amp would squeal at high volume. There's not enough shielded cable in the Plexi MK II kit to run all of them against the chassis wall. Hence my question...

Is there is a preferred routing scheme for the Plexi MK II?

I ended up going from the TMB jacks straight over the top of the TB. No issues so far, but then I haven't been able to really crank up the volume just yet. At moderate volume levels, however, I have to say that this amp has exceeded ALL my expectations. I'm really impressed!

Tomorrow the wife will be gone most of the day am I'm definitely going to move some air!

EDIT: Sounded great at high volume! No issues at all.

So today I installed the VRM and I LOVE it. Sounds awesome at comfy volume levels.

I accidentally broke the faceplate soon after starting the build. The replacement arrived this morning allowing me to finish the build. Thank you Stephen for getting the replacement out so fast! The amp sounds incredible and I couldn't be happier!

Update:

I didn't care for the VRM combination On-Off switch/control pot. It was a pain in butt having to find the sweet spot on the pot every time I powered up the amp.

So I re-installed the On/Off toggle switch and put the VRM control pot on the back. This way it's more of a set it and forget it arrangement. I used a new 1M Audio pot from my parts drawer and enlarged the small hole between the impedance switch and the mains outlet. I really like this arrangement!





By the way, it's way past the honeymoon stage and I'm still blown away by just how great this amp sounds! I totally love it!
