******** Update. All working good. Was worried about nothing. Thanks.
Evening everyone,
I started my 18 watt build quite some time ago. So long that i cant remember exactly. 10 years at least. I have the build near completion. Finally.
Using 18 Watt Plexi MKII revision 5 using 2-EL 34’s
My transformers are Trinity from way back. The power transformer is confusing as i cant find a diagram. It is as follows.
6.3 5.0 0 290 0 290 240 120 0 3.15 0 3.15
My confusion is with the 240 and 120 lead. I have hooked up the 120 to the power switch and left the 240 taped off and not hooked up. The schematic noted above shows 2 117 volt leads conmected to power switch.
During the build i tested the power supply and found readings all matched reasonably well with Trinity Builder guide 3.0 page 46.
Having difficulty with B+ voltage being too high along with plate voltage’s. These taken with no tubes inserted.
B+. 419
V1 at pin 1 414
V2 at pin 1 378
V3 didnt record
V4 at pin 7 423
V5 at pin 7 423
Any help or suggestions is appreciated.
UPDATE. Found an older diagram showing the transformer I have. Corrected what I believe is one problem. Originally followed the way the printed values on transformer related to the wires and not the colour coding. Looks like solid black is actually 120 and neutral is black and white(their order was switched). Switched these and got the following
B+ is now 388 which is getting better with only the rectifier tube inserted.
V1 pin 1 is about 380 and V2 pin 1 is about 350.
So I still have a problem I think? Steve Mc
