1. Hammond M3 iron $45

I am open to any and all suggestions.

I recommend you do yourself a favour and invest in a *real* 18W OT from Trinity or GDS, say. The OT is the foundation of the amp's tone.

Phil,
I would do just that, but I am unemployed!! :( I do have the OT from a JTM 45 but I am saving that for another build

OK, then use the JTM45 OT for now. It has an 8k primary. Then when you get your job, swap the JT45 OT for a real deal 18W OT, before doing your JTM45 build.

Cool idea & will work too!! I've compared the Hammond to several transformers. Face-to-face.
It would be nice to have low cost option, but it doesn't suit my taste in tone.

is this the same LeeMo that was moddinga VJr. over on the 18watt site??? if so how far did you get??

Yes, I was on 18watt ( and AX84 and ampgarage /Trainwreck/Dumble) and I do have a Valve jr that Santa brought me, however , I've yet to do more than swap a few toobz in it. I also got my sIII Trinity V6 at the same time and it occupies my play-time with dominance. There are some things that I want to do to the vjr but I'm in no hurry. I plan to tweak it in the tone department and add a 6v6 . I'll make it into a Herzog to drive another amp if I can get it sounding better. Actually, it doesn't sound half bad with a 5751 instead of the 12ax7.

Yea, the 5751 is better, still not a great sound. I've got turret boards built for my vjr's , change them into something else, when I get to it.
