I know attenuators have been covered a lot so sorry about another question on them.

I've been trying the suggestions for finding your tone from the Trinity Amps Mag.

The amp sounds great :D

I'm rattling parts of the house

I've seen the threads on the L pads and the resistor switch ideas. My question is for anyone who has tried them both, or any additional ideas, what works the best? Reasonable attenuation with minimal loss of tone is what I mean.

Then, can you guide me to where a simple guy like me can find a layout and instructions on how to add it to my SIIIv6?

Thanks everyone :D

That would be great :D

Please send me what you have.

What is your opinion, which works "better"?
Are they easy to build and install?

Thanks!!

Only built the 1. But you can get all the parts at Radioshack  Go figure. Not expensive, either.
The other one I haven't built yet, But I will. Very cool. Send them in a little while.
:D

Here's the cheap'o attenuator I built:
Image

Mostly used for High Octane(5W) with 6V6 tube.
Also used for Spitfire (15W) clone, runs quite hot at full 15W tube power
but should be ok. 4 ohm only.

High Octane with attenuator

High Octane without attenutaor

I actually prefer playing the amp with the attenuator
since it cuts of the high freq. a bit. (and saves my ears)

My High Octane has a small Fender Champ transformer which is very
bright, and the Spifire is also bright if you run it at full power distortion
with EL84. So it suits my needs at the moment.

Could be used for the 18 watt also but maybe some
higher watt resistors(+5W).

Thanks Espen :D

It looks like the lead from the amp jack connects to the pole of switch 2 at the speaker jack (my monitor cuts it off a bit). Is that correct?

I appreciate the help!!

That is correct, its just a simple bypass of the attenuator.

Here's a simple calculator for the values:

or
