Here are a few shots of my new sIII build, this time a combo with a "bomb" configuration of Tone Tubbys in a tweed cabinet. The box is pine with finger join corners for strength and the amp has a boost switch fitted currently with the switch between v2 and v3. The amp has Trinity iron which I can thoroughly recommend. This amp sounds wicked and gets its first run live tomorrow night playing lashings of Aussie rock including some AC/DC and some INXS. Post no. 666

Lawrence, I think the bomb is one of the best configurations I have heard, I would really like to own more Tone Tubbys but for the fact they are so expensive to get over here, the last two came back in suitcases from Canada on my last trip. The bomb is also a great configuration for recording as you can mike up either of the speakers and get a different combination of tones.

Excuse my ignorance, but wat makes the bomb a bomb? Just the fact that they are two different speakers?

Dont exactly kknow the origins but lbet & I coined the nickname 'H-Bomb' (a 4-12 with 2 of each) and John at A Brown Sound liked it.

da bomb----- "the best ~ simply outstanding; no comparison or greater value can be placed to another of similar type of manner."

It is a slang expression from a little while back. It basically means very very good. I suspect that someone used that expression after listening to a 2x12 hybrid cab at the Brown Soun headquarters. H-Bomb (Hemp Bomb) is the term Coco coined for for 2 ceramics and 2 alnicos in a 4x12.
