Can some of you experts go into detial on the clean boost switch on mu plexi sIII. This amp is breaken in nicely and I love the marshal tones. Vintage MArshall wiith the KoT and a strong monster with a BOSS DS/PRO by AnalogMan. That pedle sounds like it becomes part of the amp. Its amazng.

How is it it best used, I keep it off most of the time. The amp is quiter with it off but it seems fuller sounder with better drive.

When the cleen boost in engaged I can get some nice shimmering chords with plenty of crunch. Not alwways though. Sometimes it will be a bit flat and see that this all as to do with my amp settings and overdrive pedal settings.

Come some of the experts please shed some light on this? Maybe you can share your own impressions and how you like to use it. For the most part I find that I keep the clean boost off. Then when I swich it on, sometimes I get good results and other times I am not happy. Please tell me whats going on.

The Plexi clean boost cuts the cathode resistor value giving it more gain at that stage.

The sIII boost cuts the cathode resistor value AND adds a cap inot the mix so it's a big kick. That's all there is to it.

It could be overdriving under certain conditions.

I have an SIII-Plexi or so I thought, which boost do I have? I am no expert but when I did the wiring it looked like there was another cap being added to the circuit.

I think you have a Plexi. So, you can check if there is an extra 25 uF cap across it or not. Desolder it if it's there & see if you like that better.
