Hi there I was wondering if anyone can give me an advise on how to add and more gain on the existing preamp gain and master volume and I also wanted to add a preamp in and out on the amp itself. I'm okey with adding some extra holes on the trinity.
Thanks,
Joe

You can change the design to a TMB (details in the resource section); add the boost switch (late model sIIIs) or go as far as an sIII-One that rgtr made with a cascaded boost!! Posted somewhere in the forum with schematics & clips.

zaphop would had a lot of input on this for sure. :D

What would I know about that?

There's a couple of quick and simple mods you can do to the sIII. The first is to turn 100k resistor R8 around, so that it's now in series between the wiper of the Gain pot and pin 2 of V2. Next reduce the value of R9 to 820 ohms, like in a typical Marshall. Those two mods should give you plenty more gain. :D If that's still not enough gain, place a 1uF or 2uF cap across R9, but I think you probably won't need to do that. I would also be inclined to increase C1 to 0.01uF (10nF) to thicken up the tone a little more.

I am very happy that I got this amp. Basically sounds just like the old jmp that I use in the studio. I had it for 7 weeks now playing it almost everyday. Rest to sure I will do that procedure you gave me. Thank you so much for the advise.
Joe

Sounds like it could be a switchable option too!

I am actually very happy with this classic sound and I wanna keep the original tone trinity provided. I just wanna get a bit more kick out of the gain which I play alot of late 60's-70's especially the 80's. The amp is so versatile for my what i do. 99% I just dial the guitar volume down to get the old bluesy clean tone. Most of my guitars are electronically modified and it fits right in perfect to this amp. This is actually the first 18 watt I had. We'll along time ago I had an old traynor. But this is the one.

I suggest you first just do the R9 mod, and see if that increases your gain enough. If not, then also do the R8 mod.
